Following the excellent results we have had in dental treatments after introducing Low Level Laser and Plasma Replacement technologies in our general practice, we also now offer facial rejuvenation.

Collagen induction therapy with PRP/injectable PRF and Laser therapy

‘Collagen induction therapy’ works by stimulating your own body’s collagen formation. It is also known as micro-needling. With the use of the latest micro-needling technology the skin starts to naturally regenerate the skin below the dermis and enhance blood supply to the area.

To increase its effectiveness we use your own blood platelets, extracted from your blood using a special centrifuge. PRP (platelet rich plasma) is widely known but we use a new, second-generation technique called PRF (plasma rich fibrin) that doesn’t require any external anti-clotting factors or other biochemical manipulation of the blood to produce, as compared with PRP.

The simple, mechanical micro-needling device, based on fine needle penetration, infuses the collagen and growth factors in the injectable PRF (iPRF) deeper into the skin to generate more cell renewal and rejuvenation.

This is considered a medical treatment which requires strict sterile and hygienic conditions for its safe administration.

Skin repair using micro-needling and PRF

How does it work?

By creating small wounds in the skin the body will respond with collagen production and new skin cells. The depth of needle penetration can be adjusted depending on the skin rejuvenation levels required such as product absorption to clinical treatment of scars and wrinkles. The treatment will target the face and neck.

What does it treat?

  • Micro-needlingscars
  • fine lines
  • under-eye wrinkles and loose skin
  • hyper-pigmentation, dark spots
  • pore size reduction
  • skin tightening
  • hair loss
  • thinning hair
  • photo-ageing
  • skincare product delivery

 What’s involved?

The skin is cleansed, gently exfoliated and antiseptic is applied. Numbing cream is applied to the area to lessen the discomfort. Some blood will also be taken to obtain the iPRF.

A small handheld pen like device with a sterile, disposable tip is then used to stamp the skin. Our needling pen’s multi-speed and adjustable needle depth allow needles to pierce the skin’s layer at 90 degrees and increase the absorption of the iPRF.

After the treatment, a low level laser with multiple colours is used to stimulate collagen production and enhance healing and a soothing vitamin-C/hyaluronic acid cream will used to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.

When will I see results?

Visible improvements can take about 2-6 weeks and continue for up to 6 months.

How many treatments are required?

A series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is ideal to be in line with skin cell renewal.

What is iPRF?

Platelet rich fibrin is a concentration of platelets in the blood. When used on the skin, iPRF releases growth factors to stimulate the body’s own repair process to stimulate new collagen and elastin formation. A small blood sample is taken from your body and iPRF is separated from the other components in the centrifuge machine. The iPRF is then infused into the skin from the micro-channels created by the micro-needling for optimal wound healing and rejuvenation. The remaining iPRF can also be injected intradermally to cheeks, nasal-labial folds, marionette line, temples and lips for added volume and collagen production.

How does the laser work?

Low Level Laser with multiple wavelengths (colours) works on the different levels of the skin and subcutaneous tissues – acting to bind the hyaluronic acid to the tissues and enhance the iPRF activation to improve cell renewal and rejuvenation. It also enhances healing and has an anti-bacterial effect for problem skin conditions.

Short-term effects should be visible after 1-3 treatments. For long-lasting effects we recommend up to 10 sessions.

What to expect post treatment

There will be a visible glow after the treatment. The skin will appear red, dry and sometimes itchy post treatment, usually lasting for 1-2 days.

Immediately afterwards we recommend you avoid applying any makeup to the skin except creams to sooth the skin and keep it moisturised (a post treatment moisturiser containing special ingredients is provided with our facial regeneration treatment).

For the next few days, while the skin is healing, mineral based makeup can be applied as that allows the skin to breath and continue its healing process.

The skin may also peel as part of the rejuvenation process. It should take approximately 2-6 weeks for the new skin layer to resurface.

In summary

Collagen induction therapy  is a great way to achieve a healthy-looking rejuvenated face, holistically and naturally, in the hands of a qualified health professional working within strict guidelines to maintain the essential sterile conditions.
